THE COATING CREW FAQ

  • What type of floor coatings do you install?

We install Polyurea and Epoxy. We select the best material for your specific application.

  • How do you prepare our concrete surface?

Regardless of age, we treat all concrete surfaces the same by diamond grinding the entire floor prior to coating application.

  • How dusty is the grinding process?

HEPA filtration vacuums are always used in conjunction with all grinding of the slab.

  • Will my coated floor be slippery?

Coated concrete is completely sealed, standing water if not removed can be slippery. When applying the final coat to the floor we make sure texture is present. If slipping is a concern, ask about additional anti-slip.

  • Do you fill cracks and divots in the concrete?

We treat cracks and divots prior to any coating application.

  • Do cracks ever come back?

If the concrete moves beyond the flex of the material cracks may reappear.

  • When can I move items back onto my coated floor?

In most cases, household goods can be returned to the floor after 24 hours of completion. Vehicles can safely return to the floor after 36 hours of completion.

  • How long will it take to complete my floor?

Most coating applications are completed the day of scheduled installation. Depending on size and condition of the concrete some applications may take longer.

  • What do you require for reserved installation?

We require a down payment for reserved installation with payment in full upon completion.

  • Are you a licensed contractor in Southwest Florida?

We’re licensed and insured in Lee County and Collier County.

  • How do I clean my coated floor?

We recommend using a mild detergent like Dawn or Simple Green with water. A little detergent goes a long ways. Most clients wet down the surface, scrub any stubborn grime and squeegee out the dirty water and rinse very well. Power washing is ok at a low pressure.

  • Do you repair an existing floor coating?

We don’t repair existing floor coatings.

  • How long will my coating last?

With proper care and normal use your floor should last as long as you own the property.

  • Does the coating have odor?

Yes, coatings do emit odor, most materials are low in VOC’s and environmentally safe. Odor will dissipate after a few days of completion.

  • Will our floor discolor?

Our coatings are UV stable to minimize discoloration

  • What will stain or cause a blemish to my newly coated floor?

Our coating is very chemical resistant to oil, salt and gasoline but corrosives and solvents can cause staining to our floors (ie. Battery acid, brake fluid, paint thinner, tire dressing)

  • What should I do if I spill a corrosive or solvent?

Wipe up any corrosives or solvents in a timely manner. Be conscientious of chemical spills.

  • Do you coat exterior surfaces?

We can coat outside but require the majority of the concrete surface to be covered by a roof.

  • Do you refinish pool deck surfaces?

We do not apply our coatings around any surfaces surrounding water.

  • How much will the floor coating cost?

Cost of the floor coating is dependent on size of the area, condition of the concrete and location.

  • How do we prepare prior to installation?

Please make sure the concrete floor is obstruction free, dry, and well-lit prior to installation.

  • Should I wash the floor prior to having it coated?

Do not induce any moisture to the floor prior to the coating application. Keep any wet vehicles off the area (ie. AC Condensation, rainwater, or residual carwash water)

  • Should I paint my walls prior to having my concrete floor coated?

If you decide to paint, please do so a week or two prior to installation and ventilate well to make sure the walls are cured prior to coating. We do our best to keep walls as clean as possible but a little touch-up painting may be needed. Paint holds water while curing and during humid months it can cause a concrete floor to condensate.

  • What happens if there’s a tropical storm or rain?

If weather delays your project we move the installation to the next available week on the calendar.

  • What happens if debris blows into the coated floor?

Whether it’s a leaf or a lizard, wait until the coating is fully cured to remove any debris.
